King of Righteousness

By Bible Names of God

"First being by interpretation, King of righteousness." Hebrews 7:2

The picture is taken from the story of Melchisedec, the strange king to whom Abram paid tithes (Genesis 14). Christ if King of righteousness, for He is the King of kings. He is the Righteous One and the only Righteous One. We have no righteousness. All of our righteousness is as filthy rags, but "Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth." We believe in Him, and it is counted unto us for righteousness. His righteousness is put to our account and we are associated with the Righteous King forever. Hallelujah!

Lord, we confess our unworthiness, but we rejoice in Thy finished work and in the gift of Thy righteousness to us. Amen.
